Fashion: NYC Fashion Week Fall 2014 Trend Alert!

Hey Dolls!
With fashion week quickly approaching in Toronto next month we are all excited about what each designer will bring to the runway! And this year we will be definitely going to as many shows as we can! Can't wait! As we patiently await for Toronto Fashion Week we had the chance to lookout for our favourite American designers at New York Fashion Week Fall 2014. Here are some of the trends we can look forward to see in stores next Fall.

Plaid:
  (Vera Wang Fall 2014)
(Victoria Beckham Fall 2014)
Seems like plaid is here to stay! Plaid can seem tricky if not paired properly but it's also a print to have fun with. This trend is all about making a statement from a blouse, skirt or coat there are endless ways to pair this print to an outfit. Here is a trick to stay fashionable and not go to crazy with this print! Make it an accent to an outfit! For example if your coat is plaid make your overall outfit simple and neutral so your coat can make its statement, seen in Victoria Beckham's collection. For the fashionistas out there not afraid to take a risk go crazy and take on the Vera Wang look above, go bold with pairing plaid on plaid.

Knits:
(Marc Jacobs Fall 2014)
(Tory Burch Fall 2014)
Knits will forever remain in style! Every season designer always come up with a clever way to reinvent the knit "sweater," this season Marc Jacobs decided to go all out and do knit from head to toe! Let see if this catches on. You can't go wrong with a simple knit sweater with chain embellishment like Tory Burch is showing with some cute knit knee socks.

Green for Fall:
 (Prabal Gurung Fall 2014)
(J.Mendel Fall 2014)
For this upcoming Fall it is all about green! Forget about black being the colour of the year, green is the colour that will make you stand out from a crowd. They are calling it "Emerald City" on the runway and it's all about brightening up people's wardrobe but still given them a edge for the Fall. Prabal Gurung always gives us a great chic sophisticated look, I really appreciate the matching green coat and matching trousers, the fabric and grey turtleneck brings the outfit all together nicely. J.Mendel tones down the green trend by incorporating it in a simple asymmetrical fitted dress, love how classy yet edgy it looks!

Funky Fur:
(Ralph Lauren Fall 2014)
(J.Mendel Fall 2014)
I believe that every girl should own at least one faux fur jacket for Fall! especially for those special occasions to go out. Love that they decided to have fun with with fur for Fall by incorporating some fun colours such as the light pink seen above in Ralph Lauren and J.Mendel taking it up a notch by adding many colours into the mix. I am so in love with both looks the first one can definitely go for a day look and the second outfit a night look.

Shearling:
(Reed Krakoff Fall 2014)
(Zero+Maria Cornejo Fall 2014)
I never was a big fan of the shearling trend but next Fall I am ready to try it out. This trend applies the comfy yet fashionable statement to it. It's all about making a statement but having a effortless persona while at it. This trend will definitely do well next Fall because of the windy weather and it being easy to add on to any outfit to give it more of a laid-back vibe. A great example of this is seen in the Reed Krakoff collection, the designer just added a simple shearling jacket over a top and long maxi skirt, very boho chic. Zero+Maria Cornejo took the shearling trend to a whole another level! They incorporated the shearling trend from head to toe. This look may be for a risk taker, definitely could picture someone like Rihanna pulling this off and of course changing the shoes to a brown bootie.
